DEL REY OAKS, Monterey County — October 26, 2026. Del Rey Oaks officials and residents have raised concerns about workmanship on the Canyon Del Rey segment of the Fort Ord Regional Trail and Greenway (FORTAG). At a September 22 city meeting, a Transportation Agency for Monterey County briefing described the segment as approximately 75% complete and discussed issues including cracking concrete and loose railings.
That is a September progress estimate, not a verified construction percentage as of October 26. Officials have insisted remaining defects be resolved before final handover. The regional trail is meant to provide a safer route for walking and cycling, including access beneath busy Canyon Del Rey Boulevard, but unfinished segments should not be treated as publicly open without official access signs. Residents should use TAMC’s FORTAG updates and city notices for current closures, inspections and completion timing.
