DEL REY OAKS, Monterey County — October 26, 2026. Del Rey Oaks is part of a multi-city effort to prepare future waste-collection and recycling franchise procurement. The city approved initiating a competitive request-for-proposals process in April, rather than automatically renewing an incumbent service arrangement without review.

The stated timeline has procurement documents drafted during 2026, evaluation in 2027 and a possible transition extending to 2030 as providers secure vehicles, staffing and collection routes. Those are planning expectations rather than final contract awards. Household collection schedules and fees should not be assumed to have changed today. Residents and businesses can follow council minutes and the regional negotiation process for proposed rates, recycling standards and any eventual service change.
